A Cool City: Masdar

Masdar is a city with area of 6 km2 which is going to be constructed in Abu Dhabi. It will burn no gas or oil so it is Carbon neutral. In this essay, I ill write about aims of the Masdar Project.

One of the biggest is zero carbon emissions. Buildings’ sides and windows won’t put together facing the direct sunlight for the purpose of decreasing amount of absorbing solar power. There will be solar panels and solar collectors placing on buildings’ roofs and elsewhere to generate electricity.

Another goal is banning gas or oil cars. In the city, passengers would use a personal rapid transit (PRT) system which is designed like a simple vehicle running by solar power and batteries. These powered cars would run on changed routes so people can go anywhere.

Last aim is recycling 80% or water. The plan is to reuse water many times. For instance, one idea is irrigation recovery which is water can be used more than once for watering crops.
